Compliance

Proportionate verification, not paperwork for its own sake

Most South Africans should be able to swap a few thousand rand of USDT without submitting a document. Larger volumes carry larger obligations — so verification scales with how much you trade.

Tier 1 — unverified

Available immediately after sign-up. Trade freely until your lifetime traded volume reaches R1 000 000. No documents required.

Tier 2 — verified

Required once you pass the R1 000 000 threshold. Submit a South African ID, passport or driver's licence plus a proof of address issued in the last three months. Reviews are usually completed within one business day.

What we do and don't do

Records

We keep trade, payment-method and verification records for the periods required by South African financial legislation.

Monitoring

Unusual trading patterns, mismatched payer names and repeated disputes are reviewed. Accounts may be restricted while a review is open.

Your obligations

You are responsible for declaring crypto asset gains to SARS and for complying with exchange control rules. ZARXE does not provide tax or financial advice.

ZARXE operates a peer-to-peer marketplace: rand payments move directly between users' own bank accounts and ZARXE holds only crypto assets in escrow. Prohibited activity — including third-party payments, money laundering, fraud and trading on behalf of an undisclosed party — will result in account closure and, where appropriate, referral to the relevant authorities. See our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Verification takes a few minutes

Upload your documents once and keep trading without interruption.
